I have some unusual hobbies, including studying the tarot. Not many people know, but the tarot involves an extremely complex system of philosophy and religion, and is connected to a secretive organization called the Golden Dawn. If you want to learn about the real Da Vinci code, the tarot is a good place to start.
So, anyhow, being a fan of all things mysterious, I was very curious when I read the premise for The Pini Society: The Remarkable Truth. It's a logic puzzle game, but much more than that. It's also connected to some real life mysteries, and the archological explorations of the late 19th century. Maybe you've heard of the epic of Gilgamesh? These guys helped to translate it. Members also take credit for discovering the source of the Nile, finding the lost city of Machu Picchu, reaching the North and South Poles for the first time, and unlocking the tomb of King Tutankhamen.
To play the game, you have to find and protect sacred treasures by solving puzzles. These puzzles start out simple, but get more complex as you advance. For every solved puzzle, you earn part of an artifact. Once you've beaten a level, you get even more information about the artifact and all the people connected to it.
By downloading the full version of The Pini Society: The Remarkable Truth, you receive membership to The Pini Society. Just go to the site, http://www.pinisociety.org , and answer a question about the game. As a member, you get access to info on society members and current findings, involvment in future online projects, and say in deciding which historical sites should get funding. A portion of the game's profits go to saving a historical site. It's really interesting stuff.
So, is it real or not? Seems legit to me, but you decide. Either way, it's a pretty cool game and story.
