Urgh. So, I had a totally stressful week. We moved to a bigger home, since our last was getting to cramped for our growing family. Oh my goodness, you would not believe the chaos! First, our stove completely broke, and we were told it would take 5 days to fix it. Then, we found that half of the door hinges and knobs had rusted -- the worst, of course, being our front door, which promptly decided to break once we were all inside. We were stuck in the house all Sunday, waiting for help to remove it so we could get out! Carpets, light fixtures, you name it...everything needs fixing. And we've got our third baby coming in just two months.
Well, at least I found something good to enjoy this week -- Azada: Ancient Magic is finally here! Have I mentioned how totally excited I've been about its release? Since the original Azada caused such a stir, it's not a big surprise that the sequel is also hot. The great news is that it's even better than the original, imo. The game play is done in a blend of hidden object and old-school adventure game style, taking the best elements of each.
The story premise for Azada: Ancient Magic picks up where the last left off. This time, Titus needs your help to figure out what is causing the fictional characters in his Great Uncle Argus's library to behave so strangely. As you play, you work your way through each of the 21 books in order to solve the mystery. The stories are varied, including Dracula, Grimm's fairytales, Sherlock Holmes, etc. It was pretty neat to interact with such a wide variety of characters. The story was very clever. The music is fabulous, too.
It's a bit short, so it only took me around 4 hours to beat. I found the penalties for wrong clicks a bit annoying too, since it hampered exploration. It was a small issue, though, since otherwise the game was totally engaging to play.
Now I must go, so I can give the computer over to my husband who also wants a turn to play the new Azada...I think he's earned it after this move.
